Breaking The Ice

Daily Prompt: Reader’s Block

What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without reading a book (since learning how to read, of course)? Which book was it that helped break the dry spell?

I was so keen to read books

I was a small girl with average looks

Archie’s and Marvel were among favorites

Tintin entertained me during vacations

As a teenager got loads of homework

Still Mills and Boons grabbed my attention

A professional course, full time Fashion designer

Love, marriage and adjusting in a new environment

Took me away from the world of books, for a moment

I came with my hubby to my  first military station

Settled our new home, first married accommodation

One fine day hubby handed over me a library card

“Go, visit, issue a book, read and write a review” he passed4e793b6ee665eeb3093c446821f89b8b

After looking  at all the sections, I carefully picked one

Erich Segal’s  ” The Class” was so engrossing and fun

Next was ” The Doctors” of the same author, a classic one

There was no stopping then till I read the whole fiction section

I had found my source of happiness.

  1. All books are fun to read, they each have a message or lesson in them. I am like you, Rashmi, love fictional books, with their dramatic plots and exciting stories. I enjoy historical books, but don’t read them often. Just when I need to become more informed. I also like true stories, but only while written well. This was a great post, well-written and so nice of your husband to get your library card and encourage you to ‘sprout wings,’ and escape from life, into the pages of a great book!
