Stunning Saraighat Bridge: Photo 101 (Architecture) # Cee’s Lines & Angles

Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge constructed over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.

When we talk about monochrome in photography, we’re referring to images developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one color.

The lines, shapes, angles and undulating surfaces in this image come alive in the color version making it a bold statement.

The brown color gives it a vintage feel, reflects the glorious and eventful past of more than 60 years.

The black and white shot feels abstract and creates depth and mystery.

A little bit about Saraighat bridge:-

It was opened to traffic in April 1962 by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Guwahati is said to be the Gateway to the Northeast. Saraighat bridge plays a significant role here. It connects the Northeastern region with rest of India as well as strengthen the bond among seven north easters states. The first bridge built over the river Brahmaputra that has completed 50 years in the year 2008 is a fine example of architecture. Crossing this 4258 feet long bridge is an experience in itself.

This is also in response to Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Lines and Angles.
