Poinciana for Judy ( Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge, Aug 4 2015)

Today Judy of Lifelessons shared pictures of Tabachine which is also known as Poinciana. In our part of the world it is famous as Gulmohar tree.

I had clicked few pictures when trees were in full bloom. Infact I wrote a post where I mentioned about Gulmohar.

Here are the pics for my dear friend Judy and all of you. DSC_9423

Google uncle confirms it by saying “In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an ornamental tree and in English it is given the name Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant. It is also one of several trees known as Flame tree. In India it is known as Gulmohar in Hindi.DSC_9424

  1. That’s it! In its tree form it is known as “Falamboyan” here as well–very close. I’ve heard it described as one of the most beautiful trees in the world, along with the African Tulip Tree, which we also have in abundance. The foliage is gorgeous, as well–similar to a Jacaranda–but it has those wonderful long pods that turn woody and which the local craftspeople pain and make into interesting creatures–snakes, lizards and otherwise. Thanks for your gorgeous pictures. My large tree is going out of bloom but I’ll take a picture. It hangs over my wall so the electric company keeps slashing it off!

    1. I feel bad whenever I have to slash the over growing branches of a healthy tree just because it start touching the electric wires. I would love to see more pictures from your surroundings.
