To Err is Human……Let Them Learn

Daily Prompt: Tell us about something you’ve done that you would advise a friend never to do.

140962008410196Firstly I never give advise unless someone asks for it.

Secondly Who cares? Will my friend listen to my advice?

Won’t he/she want to learn her own lessons in life?

To err is human. It is a typical human nature to do those things about which they already have been cautioned.

Look at the child ! Mother tells him not to touch the glass of hot milk. Still he will go and burn his fingers. That is his experience of life. We all learn from our experiences, good, bad, ugly whatever but we all learn by doing.

Therefore my friend would definitely give it a try no matter how much I convince him/her not to do certain things.

It is not necessary that if didn’t had a pleasant experience doing something then it would be same for everyone.

Once I watched a movie and I found it terrible. I advised my friends not to waste money watching it but next day two of my friends went and watched it. They appreciated it so much that I felt embarrassed though I knew that they were actually saying it to prove me wrong. I decided not to give advice to others unless I have faith on a person that he/she will value that advice.

Now a days if you tell anybody that it is not at all worth going to that saloon, the prices are exorbitant then he will make it a point to get a hair cut from that saloon just to belittle you. May be they think that I don’t want them to get a same cut as mine, huh ! Why people are so complicated?

Why some people do exactly opposite of what they have been advised not to do?

Still one advice for friends those who care:

Never buy a jeans or dress one size small IN HOPE to shed your weight to fit in that. You may take so long to wear it.

Most of us have not yet discarded our college day jeans, right?

I'm sorry, they don't make dresses large on the inside and small on the outside!

  1. I make a point of not doing what the others say. Much more fun and I do not trust anyone, especially the daily prompt people. They tell me to write a daily prompt and next week it appears again and again and again etc. etc.

    1. I know. Most of us have started doing our own things and have fun. Isn’t it a better way to avoid writing same things. Let your felines do the needful and they are entertaining well.

  2. The other piece of advice? If you have been dieting, do NOT buy ALL your new clothing at the lowest point of weight you reach because you will gain back a few pounds.

Otherwise, I haven’t had any luck advising anyone and have, in anything but very minor things, given it up as pointless. I guess it is part of Karma that we all must take our lumps and bumps and learn the hard way.

    1. That’s a good one ! Yes it is so true ! I remember all my dresses were not fitting me just after marriage as I got them stitched at what you mentioned lower point of weight and gained back after few days of marriage. We all learn our lessons hard way.

  3. Very true points and wisdom 🙂 now, excuse me while I go get a suit that makes me look great on the outside and super holiday cozy on the inside 😉

    1. That holds true for lazy bums like me. You are working up so hard to look at your best in March you said, right? That’s the time you gonna meet someone? Ooh la la !

  4. The irony of my work is that people pay me to hear my advice. After I give it, some people tell me that it won’t work, and why. Then they come back in a week or so all excited about some article they read in a newspaper or magazine that tells them——drum roll——EXACTLY what I did, and they go on and on about how well it worked and they just thought I’d like to know so I can share it with other clients. . . . .

You just have to laugh. Otherwise you’d cry 🙂

  5. Oh God, I swear that’s the most annoying thing ever. I took me a while to realize that with some people it was like talking to a brick wall since they asked for advice but never acted upon it. And It’s so tiring to waste your energy… great post ! And love the later advice ! 😉

    1. I think it happens with almost all of us. I have stopped giving advice since i know people will show concern on your face but they will never act on it.
