Grandma’s Pie, The Best Gift

Food evokes all the senses: the scent of pastry baking, the sound of a fork clinking on a plate… Enjoy this story about pie which transports me back to childhood.

Brandied Apple Pie 4Thanksgiving memories so rich
Across a joyous bewitch
Luscious fluffy pastry: Smell
of freshly baked apple pie, dwell
into grandma’s spices, nuts
slices of apples with some cheese
Munch the floor, mix some herbs

loads of butter and bit of cold water
grease the dish and bake till golden
Raisins cooked, delicious every bite
Special cuts, flaky crust baked light,
whip the cream, heap up high
Cherry on top, a sumptuous desert
Melting in the mouth, gorgeous aroma drift
I sat and ate, one in my mouth and two in my plate
Years gone, my grandma will not be there for Thanksgiving
Her aromatic, apple pie will be missed amongst the living
Her apple, pumpkin and blue berries
Sesame sprinkled spinachy heaven
Thin golden crust, clove to leaven
A delight for taste buds, a real treat
Granny made by hand, it was the best gift
