ENDURANCE OF FAITH
Endurance to me is one’s ability to resist, withstand or recover from, facing hardships, going through tough situations or stress.
It may be seen in the context of an individual or its manifestation in the nature.
Recently I visited Ellora Caves, a WORLD HERITAGE SITE in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India, an archeological site built by the Rashtrakuta Dynasty during 5th-7th century.
While I looked at an ancient and huge statue of Buddha, I thought, “What else could depict endurance better than this magnificent rock sculpture? This reposed my faith in the splendid heritage of religion as it evolved over the ages.”
Not only is the Ellora complex a unique artistic creation and a technological exploit but, with its sanctuaries devoted to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, it illustrates the spirit of tolerance that was characteristic of ancient India.
These caves represents the epitome of Indian rock – cut architecture, which have withstood harsh climatic changes, environmental hazards and perhaps poor preservation policies. Despite all, these caves endured ravages of nature which now is a protected site under Archeological survey of India.
You can read more about these caves on Wikipedia. Ellora Caves.
